Age-group assignments are established by USA Water Polo based on the athlete's age on August 1st of the year in which the Junior Olympic tournament is held and run in groups spanning 2 years.

Think of August 1st as water polo’s "New Year."  Every other year after the Junior Olympics, athletes will "age up" to participate in the next age group.

SCWP takes a short break after the competitive year concludes with Junior Olympics in late July.   We kick-off the new competitive year at the end of August with team assessments and tryouts.

Competitive Age Group Birthdays for the 25/26 Season

The age of your child on August 1, 2025 indicates their age group during the annual season of August 2, 2025 through August 1, 2026.  For the 2025-26 season, players with the following birthdays will be assigned to age group teams noted below:

• • • 10U = Born 8/2/15 - 12/1/17
    • 12U = Born 8/2/13 - 8/1/15
    • 14U = Born 8/2/11 - 8/1/13
    • 16U = Born 8/2/09 - 8/1/11
    • 18U = Born 8/2/07 - 8/1/09
    • SPLASHBALL = 6-9 years old during session dates
