Meet Our Coaching Staff

San Clemente Water Polo's coaching staff brings together exceptional experience spanning club water polo, championship high school programs, collegiate coaching, NCAA Division I athletics, Olympic Development Program (ODP), professional and international competition, and the Olympic Games. Our staff includes NCAA champions, Junior Olympic champions, ODP coaches, CIF championship coaches, former collegiate captains, and professional, international, national team, and Olympic athletes. Just as importantly, our coaches are deeply invested in the San Clemente Water Polo community. Many grew up in our program, competed for San Clemente High School, continued their careers at the collegiate level, and have returned to mentor the next generation. Others have built championship programs elsewhere and now bring that experience to San Clemente Water Polo. Our coaches understand the complete athlete pathway—from Splashball and 10U through Junior Olympics, ODP, high school, college, and beyond. They've helped athletes earn opportunities to compete at every level, including collegiate water polo, ODP, national teams, and the Olympic Games. Together, they are committed to developing fundamentally sound athletes while building confidence, character, leadership, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love for the game.

Club Director & High School Head Coach - Logan Powell

Coach Logan Powell returns to San Clemente after serving as Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Coach at Ottawa University in Arizona.  Before moving to Ottawa University Logan Powell served as head coach of the boys and girls water polo teams at San Clemente High School. In four seasons leading the boys, the team won three league titles and reached the CIF Finals in 2019. His 10 seasons coaching the girls team saw them win seven league titles, make four trips to the CIF Finals, and win one CIF Championship.

Logan Powell was named the 2011 CIF Coach of the Year and he received the USA Water Polo (USAWP) Brent Bohlender Award for Girls Development in 2017 and the USAWP Bill Barnett Distinguished Coaching Award in 2018.

Logan Powell graduated from San Clemente High School in 2002.  During his collegiate career at UCLA, Powell helped the Bruins win the 2004 NCAA National Championship. During his career at UCLA Logan Powell was a 2-Time All-American Selection and in 2006 served as team captain. Powell scored a team-best 34 goals as a senior and had 88 goals in his UCLA career.

Powell graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science. He and his wife Emilee are the parents of two sons, Henry and Lewis.

In addition to serving as our Club Director, Logan is also Head Coach to our 16/18U Girls and 16/18U Boys Teams.

16U Girls Head Red Coach & Girls High School Coach - Matthew Flesher

Matt is a career water polo coach with 5 NCAA titles under his belt - two as an athlete, and three as a coach.  Matt has also racked up over 15 National Club Championships and Junior Olympic wins…and is still counting.

Prior to SCWP, Matt coached at UCLA, UC Berkeley, Corona Del Mar High School and Los Angeles Water Polo Club. Matt has been coached by, and has coached with legendary Olympic coaches past & present and has coached several National and Junior National Champions, and Olympic Medalists from the US and abroad.   

Matt brings the same level of focus and intensity to our age-group girls teams as he does to his current college teams at Golden West. His tireless dedication to developing well-rounded athletes with solid fundamentals and a growth mindset is evident in our girls stellar growth.  

Matt also serves as the Head Coach for Girls SOPAC Zone Olympic Development Program (ODP), and the 12 & 14U Girls Futures League Commissioner. 

Prior to coaching, Flesher was a standout water polo player at UCLA from 1999-2002, where he was a three-time All-American selection, two-time All-MPSF selection, and two-time NCAA Champion.  In his senior year at UCLA, Matt served as co-captain and earned the Jack Bariteau "Most Inspirational Player" Award.  As a post-collegiate player, Flesher spent three seasons on the U.S. National Team, competing at the 2003 World University Games and helping Team USA qualify for the 2005 World Championships. He also played professionally for the Greek team, Ethnikos-Pireaus, in 2003 and 2004.  Flesher earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science at UCLA, and his Master's Degree in Education from UC Berkeley.

Matt leads our 14U Girls Red Team where his daughter is following in his footsteps.  He is also on the 16/18U Girls and High School Girls coaching staff.

Girls High School & 16/18U Girls Coach - Dani Mitchell

Dani is entering her 6th season with San Clemente HS where she has been assistant Varsity Girls coach and Interim Head Coach.  In that time, the girls were three-time league champions as well as CIF D2 Runner Up and D2 State Regional Champions in 2020. 

Prior to San Clemente, Dani was assistant Varsity Boys coach at Mission Viejo High School for two seasons where they were CIF D5 Champions and D3 State Regional Champions in 2019.  She also was the assistant men’s and women’s coach at Saddleback College for six seasons and assistant Varsity Girls coach at Capo Valley HS for seven seasons. 

As a player Dani was a 4-year Varsity letterman at Capo Valley HS and went on to play at Saddleback College where she was a two-time First Team All-Orange Empire Conference selection and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.  She finished her playing career at UC Santa Barbara under three-time Olympian Wolf Wigo. 

Dani earned a Master’s Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine and BA in English from UCSB.

18U Girls Coach & 14U Boys Coach - Andy Bailey

Born and raised in San Clemente, Andy grew up playing for San Clemente Water Polo Club before becoming an All-American at San Clemente High School and competing with the USA Youth National Team. Andy went on to earn a scholarship to UCLA, where he was a four-year starter and two-time NCAA Champion.

Andy brings a strong combination of high-level playing experience, leadership, and athlete connection to the pool deck. In addition to coaching year-round within the club, Andy helped lead San Clemente Water Polo to standout Junior Olympic results last season, including Gold in 16U and Silver in 18U competition.

Now in his sixth year coaching with San Clemente Water Polo, Andy has coached 12U Boys, 14U Girls, 14U Boys, and now serves as Co-Head Coach for 16U/18U Girls.  Andy is passionate about teaching character and building life lessons into the sport of water polo. He loves that the sport teaches teamwork and builds aquatic skills that directly translate into our culture as ocean-loving families.

Outside of water polo, Andy serves as a Fire Captain with the Orange County Fire Authority and enjoys spending time with his family, including his two athletes in the club.

14U Girls Head Red Coach - Steve Gill

Prior to joining our Girls Coaching staff , Gil coached age-group club teams at Orange County Water Polo, SET Water Polo and San Clemente Water Polo (from 2002-2007).   Prior to joining the 14U staff, Gil coached our 10U girls and 12U girls teams.  Last year, Gil's 12U girls team took home Gold in the Junior Olympic Championship division. 

Gil is A three-time All-American selection and three-year letter winner at UC Irvine (1989-1992), Gill captured MPSF Co-Player of the Year honors as a senior in 1992. He helped lead the Anteaters to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Tournament in 1991 and 1992.

Following his collegiate career, Gill competed for the U.S. Senior National Team from 1992-1996, and in 2002-2004. Playing at the World University Games in 1991 and 1993, Gill helped Team USA to gold medal finishes in both tournaments.  

Gill also excelled for various professional water polo teams in Europe and Australia including stops in Italy, Australia, Croatia, Spain and Greece. He competed for SS Lazio Nuoto in Rome, Italy in 1994, and for West Magpies Water Polo Club in Sydney, Australia in 1996. Gill spent two years (1996-1998) competing for VK Jug in Dubrovnik, Croatia and also played for C.N. Mediterrani in Barcelona, Spain in 1998. In 2002 through 2004, Gill competed for two teams in Athens, Greece - Glyfada Water Polo Club and Panionios Water Polo Club.  

Steve is enjoying bringing his knowledge and passion for water polo to our 12 & 14U Girls team where his daughter, Kalia is growing to love the sport.

12U Girls Coach - Dan Yeilding

DJ was born in San Clemente Hospital, is a San Clemente High School graduate and has been a lifelong resident other than his time spent at UCLA competing as a member of their NCAA national champion Bruin water polo team.

Prior to UCLA, DJ earned three varsity letters in swimming and water polo at San Clemente High School. As a senior water polo captain, DJ was named All-America, All-CIF, co-MVP, and Best Defense. DJ also received three All-South Coast League nods and All-CIF third team acclaim and helped San Clemente to two league championships in 1995 and '96. DJ was a '97 Orange County Register and L.A. Times all-county selection and San Clemente HS Scholar-Athlete. Prior to high school, DJ played with the U.S. National Youth Team, participated in the '97 Nor-Am Tournament in Toronto and was a Two-time Junior Olympics All-American.

DJ is on his 4th year coaching with us.  He and his former UCLA teammate, Andy Bailey, coached their sons’ 12U Boys team with a Top 10 finish in the country at JOs. This year, DJ will be coaching 10U girls with Jim Farley.  When not on the pool deck DJ enjoys his career in Real Estate and spending time with his wife Amber, son (Dan IV) and daughter (Lana) at the beach.

10U Boys Coach - James Farley

James Farley was raised in San Clemente and began playing water polo at the age of 8, with Coach Andy Bailey. James played at San Clemente High School and graduated a multiple year All-American. James then went on to play collegiately as a Trojan for University of Southern California and was a proud member of the 1998 NCAA Championship Team.

James joined the coaching Staff at San Clemente Water Polo Club in 2021 helping recruit and coach the first All-Girl 10U Team for the club.  In his first year, James and Matt Flesher took this team to the 2022 Junior Olympics and took 6th Place overall.  In the last two Junior Olympics, Jim coached our 10U girls to two consecutive Silver Medal placements.  They also took home Gold in Dare to Dream Championship.  

When not coaching, James works as a firefighter in Southern California and enjoys time with his wife and three children.  All three kids are firecrackers in the water which is great for us!

10U Boys Coach – Cory Ritzau

Cory brings a lifelong passion for water polo and youth development to San Clemente Water Polo. Having grown up on the pool deck as the son of a high school swim coach, Cory began playing water polo at a young age and was a member of the first youth club water polo team in California's Inland Empire.

At Riverside Poly High School, Cory was a CIF Champion, High School All-American, Junior Olympics All-American Silver Medalist, and 2000 CIF Southern Section Division V Player of the Year. He also represented USA Water Polo on multiple Youth Development National Teams and was an All-CIF and Academic All-American soccer player.

Cory later returned to Riverside Poly as a coach, helping both the boys' and girls' programs capture CIF Championships. Now in his second season with San Clemente Water Polo, Cory enjoys helping young athletes build strong fundamentals, confidence, and a lifelong love for the game. Outside of the pool, Cory and his wife, Kristen, own and operate Shoreline Dental, where they continue their commitment to serving the local community.

12U Girls Coach - Cassidy Smithson

Cassidy Smithson returns to San Clemente Water Polo to coach the 12U Girls, bringing a unique perspective as a San Clemente Water Polo alumna who advanced from age-group water polo to NCAA Division I competition.

After playing for Logan Powell at San Clemente High School, Cassidy continued her career at UC Davis, where she served as team captain while earning a degree in Biological Sciences. A four-year All-South Coast League selection and First Team All-CIF honoree, Cassidy helped lead the Tritons to the CIF Southern Section Championship Finals before earning All-America honors with Alliance Aquatics and continuing her career at the collegiate level. At UC Davis, she was recognized as a respected leader whose work ethic, character, and commitment brought out the best in her teammates.

Water polo has always been a family tradition. Cassidy's father, Chris Smithson, coached with San Clemente Water Polo for two seasons, making her return to the club especially meaningful.

Cassidy is passionate about developing fundamentally sound athletes while helping young players build confidence, leadership, resilience, and a love for the game. Having progressed from San Clemente Water Polo through high school and collegiate competition, she understands the habits, commitment, and character it takes to succeed at every level.

10U Girls Coach - Grace Pelkey

Grace Pelkey has been part of the San Clemente Water Polo program since 2011 when she joined as an athlete. As a four-year varsity athlete at San Clemente High School, Grace helped lead the girls team to two CIF Southern Section Finals appearances. Grace went on to play water polo at UC Davis where she scored more than 100 career goals and earned All-American and All-Big West honors. After graduation, Grace continued her playing career professionally in Australia.

Grace has coached our boys and girls teams throughout her collegiate and professional playing career and is now Head Coach of the 10U Girls Red Team.

Not only will Grace coach our youngest girls well, but she will also serve as a great role model by demonstrating the commitment, leadership, and character of a successful student-athlete. Having grown up in the San Clemente Water Polo program herself, Grace understands firsthand the pathway from youth water polo through high school, college, and beyond.

16U Boys Head Red Coach – OJ (Orlando) Vazquez

OJ (Orlando) Vazquez is entering his second year coaching with San Clemente Water Polo, where he serves as Head Coach of the 16U Boys Red Team. He also serves as Head Coach of the Capistrano Valley High School Boys Water Polo program, where he has coached since 2019. In 2025, he led the Cougars to the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Championship and was named CIF-SS Division 2 Coach of the Year.

OJ brings extensive high school and club coaching experience to San Clemente. He previously coached at Katella High School, where he led the girls program to the 2019 CIF Southern Section Championship—the first in program history—and was named CIF Southern Section Coach of the Year. He has also coached with SET Water Polo and serves on the CIF Southern Section Boys Water Polo Advisory Committee.

OJ is passionate about developing fundamentally sound athletes who compete with confidence. His positive coaching style emphasizes accountability, work ethic, and helping athletes prepare for success at the high school level and beyond.

18U Boys Coach - Mike Burke

Mike Burke is an integral part of our Boys program filling a dual role as a coach for our 16/18U boys club team, and as San Clemente High School's varsity assistant coach.

Mike is a native of San Clemente having attended San Clemente High School and playing water polo under coach Steve Yancey, earning league MVP, all-CIF and all-American honors.

Mike received a scholarship to Long Beach State where he was a 4 time all-conference selection as well as a 3 time all-American.  As a freshman, Mike was selected to the Junior National Team where he competed in the World Championships in France.  Mike was brought up to the US Men's National Team in 1989, where he competed in numerous worldwide events until 1996.  Mike won gold medals in the World University games - 1991 in England, and 1993 in New York.  Mike was recruited by the New York Athletic Club in 1993, where he went on to help claim 10 National club titles.

Mike was a varsity assistant coach to Steve Yancey in 1995, and coached age group club at the same time here at SCWP.  Mike has been coaching club age group programs since his twins (now in 18U) started in Splashball at San Clemente.  Mike is instrumental in our 16/18U boys program and we are lucky to have him.

Mike is retired from Carlsbad Fire and is also the Varsity Assistant Coach at San Clemente High School. His son and daughter, Quinn and Keira, are currently juniors at San Clemente and are heavily involved in the HS and club programs.

16U Boys Black Coach - Pat Higginson

2023 marks Coach Higginson’s 39th year as a water polo coach. 

Coach Higginson has been coaching with the San Clemente High School Boy's program since 2019, and served as Interim Head Coach in 2020. 

He began his career at Bonita Vista High School coaching Girls and Boys Water Polo. He then went on to Valhalla High School to serve as Head Coach for the Girls & Boys High School teams from 1995- 2001. During his tenure, the Girls were 7X Back to Back League Champions and the Boys were 7X League Champions with 7 CIF Finals Appearances - pulling out wins in 1995 and 2000. During this time, Coach Higginson also served on the USA National Water Polo Team Staff.  

From 2002 through 2019, Coach Higginson ran the Girls Water Polo program at Capistrano Valley High School while concurrently working as the Head Coach of Men's Water Polo at Saddleback College. 

Alongside his Political Science degree from San Diego State, Coach Higginson also received a Masters degree in Coaching and Sports Administration from Concordia University. 

Coach Higginson has two daughters that competed at the Collegiate Level, Tori Higginson (Ottawa University) and Alex Higginson (UC Cal Berkeley).  Mr. Higginson is currently a Government Teacher at Capistrano Valley HS and uses his free time to Vespa around South OC.

14U Boys Coach - Trey Davis

Trey is in his fourth year coaching with San Clemente Water Polo.  Trey is a San Clemente High School water polo alum and an All-American athlete.  After a successful run with our 14U Girls, we are excited to see what he will do with our 14U Boys.  
Prior to coaching, Trey competed at a high level, participating on the youth, junior and senior national teams.  After playing with San Clemente High School, Trey went on to compete for Concordia University where he earned All-American and First Team All-State.  After college, Trey continued to compete internationally in Italy and Malta. 
Trey brings great experience and enthusiasm to all his teams.

14U Boys Coach - Roland Mantecon

Roland Mantecon is a San Clemente Water Polo alumnus who understands firsthand the pathway from age-group water polo to high school and collegiate competition. After playing for Logan Powell at San Clemente High School, Roland continued his career at Saddleback College before competing for Ottawa University Arizona (OUAZ) under Coach Powell, giving him a unique perspective on the long-term development required to succeed at every level.
As a member of San Clemente High School's varsity program, Roland competed during one of the most successful eras in school history, helping the Tritons compete in the elite CIF Southern Section Open Division, the highest level of high school water polo in California. Roland was also a driving force on his 16U club team that won the SoPac Junior Olympic Qualifier Championship.
Outside of water polo, Roland serves as an Ocean Lifeguard with California State Parks Lifeguards Marine Safety Division, where he helps ensure public safety while mentoring younger lifeguards in a demanding team environment that emphasizes leadership, responsibility, and sound decision-making.
Roland is passionate about developing fundamentally sound athletes while helping young players build confidence, discipline, and a love for the game. Having experienced the complete San Clemente pathway, he understands what it takes to prepare athletes for success in high school, college, and beyond.

12U Boys Head Coach - Chris Murin

Chris Murin returns to San Clemente Water Polo to lead the 12U Boys program, bringing more than a decade of championship coaching experience and a proven track record of developing athletes.

As a former Head Coach at Palos Verdes High School, Chris led both the boys' and girls' water polo programs to sustained success. His teams captured multiple Bay League Championships and a CIF Southern Section Championship. Chris was recognized with five Daily Breeze Coach of the Year honors, and many of his athletes went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level.

Chris is known for building disciplined, team-first cultures that emphasize strong fundamentals, accountability, mental toughness, and long-term athlete development. He is passionate about helping young athletes develop confidence, a love for the game, and the technical foundation needed to succeed throughout the San Clemente Water Polo pathway.

14U Boys Coach - Shane Powell

Shane is entering his 4th year as a coach with SCWP where he focuses on our youngest competitive boys teams.  Shane's enthusiasm and commitment to this group has led to amazing results.  His 10U Boys team won Gold at the 2024 Junior Olympics.  His 12U boys team took Gold in the 2025 Junior Olympics.

Shane Powell is a proud San Clemente native. As a kid, Shane loved all things “water “ – going to the beach, surfing, junior lifeguards, swimming and water polo. Shane competed on San Clemente High School’s water polo and swim team from 1992 to 1996. 

Now raising his kids in the town he loves, Shane is has introduced them to water polo where he has a son and daughter on our  12U competition teams.

12U  Boys Coach - Dylan Mobley

Dylan Mobley is in his second year coaching for San Clemente Water Polo.  Prior to coaching for SCWP, he coached at Newport Harbor High School (2011-2013), Newport Beach Water Polo Club (2011-2013), Harvard Westlake School (2009-2011) and Los Angeles Water Polo Club (2007-2011).  Dylan has coached all age groups both boys and girls, contributing to appearances in CIF championships and Junior Olympic championships.  Dylan coached his young 10U boys team to a 6th place finish in Junior Olympics.  We're looking forward to see what he does with his 12U team.

As an athlete, Dylan played at Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton, CA where he helped the team win the CCS Championship in 2003 and a 3rd place finish in 2004.  He was selected to USA National Teams at both the Cadet (16u) and Youth (18u) levels where he traveled to compete in Germany, Sicily and Istanbul.  Dylan grew up playing club for Stanford Water Polo Club contributing to a 3rd place finish in 18u Boys Junior Olympics.  Dylan was selected to the Pacific Zone Team winning Gold at National Age Group Championships in the Youth (18u) Division.  Dylan was then recruited to play at UCLA where he played in 2005 and 2006.

14U  Boys Coach - Kade Boisseranc

Kade is a proud San Clemente native and SCHS alum who played four years of water polo, including on the 1991 CIF Championship team, training alongside Division I standouts and future Olympians. Competing on such a talented roster, Kade built grit and tenacity understanding the need to work hard every day to get minutes in the game.  After graduating, he returned to the San Clemente Water polo deck as an assistant coach, supporting the development of the next generation of standout local athletes.

Alongside coaching, Kade spent 15 years serving the community as a San Clemente City Lifeguard, where he built strong leadership skills, lifelong friendships, and even met his future wife. He later transitioned to City Hall, where he continues to serve the city he loves in the field of information technology.

Now in his “second first year” coaching with San Clemente Water Polo, Kade is excited to mentor the 12U Boys team and be back on the deck with lifelong friends and fellow Tritons. He is grateful for the chance to give back to a program that has shaped him in and out of the pool.

12U  Boys White Coach - Dane Casey

We are excited to add Dane Casey to our coaching staff this year.  He brings great experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to his team. 
Dane grew up playing water polo at San Clemente Water Polo Club and San Clemente High School.  He also works as a Lifeguard and Junior Lifeguard Instructor for San Clemente Marine Safety.  And if that’s not enough time in the water - he likes to fish, surf and spend time in the ocean during his time off.

Coach - John McMains

Coach John McMains has been an active member of the water polo community for more than 30 years. He swam and played water polo at Golden West College in the early 1980s under the guidance of Ken Hamdorf and Tom Hermstad Sr. He later coached with the San Luis Obispo Water Polo Club from 2006 to 2010 before joining San Clemente Triton Water Polo Club at its inception in 2014.

John has helped introduce and develop countless young athletes, many of whom have continued on to compete at the high school, collegiate, and national levels.

A San Clemente native and former San Clemente Ocean Lifeguard, John enjoys giving back to the community by helping young athletes build confidence, strong fundamentals, and a lifelong love for the sport.

10U Girls Coach - Jay Moorehead

Jay Moorehead is entering his fourth year coaching with San Clemente Water Polo and serves as Co-Head Coach of the 10U Girls program. Prior to coaching 10U Girls, Jay coached both the 12U Boys and 14U Boys, giving him experience developing athletes across multiple stages of the San Clemente Water Polo pathway.

Jay played water polo at Aliso Niguel High School before continuing his career at Santa Clara University, where he earned Academic All-America honors three times and was named Second Team All-Conference as a senior. He graduated from Santa Clara with a degree in Marketing.

Known for his positive energy, calm presence on deck, and strong work ethic, Jay is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, master the fundamentals, and develop a lifelong love for the game. He is committed to creating a fun, supportive, and challenging environment where every athlete can grow as both a player and teammate.

12U Boys Coach - Jason Leeds

Jason Leeds is a proud San Clemente native and lifelong member of the Triton water polo community. A left-handed Triton himself, Jason learned the game in the same pool where he now coaches, making it especially meaningful to help develop the next generation of San Clemente athletes.

As a varsity athlete at San Clemente High School, Jason earned All-League, All-CIF, and Orange County All-Star honors before continuing his playing career at Cuesta College. He later competed internationally with Retro SC Hungary and continues to play Masters water polo, including regional, national, international, and World Masters competitions.

Entering his fifth year coaching with San Clemente Water Polo, Jason has coached multiple age-groups from our youngest to our oldest. His ability to connect with young players helps create positive, energetic, and fundamentally sound learning environments that build strong fundamentals, confidence, and a lifelong love for the game. Having also supported a son through the San Clemente Water Polo club and high school programs, Jason understands the athlete and family experience from both a coach's and parent's perspective.

Outside of the pool, Jason enjoys surfing, playing guitar, and traveling, and is working toward his goal of visiting 60 countries.  He also has a passion for videography and can often be found on the pool deck with a camera in hand, filming games and creating San Clemente Water Polo's 10U Junior Olympics introduction & inner tube scrimmage videos featured on the club's Instagram.

12U Boys Coach - Grover (Trey) Trask

We are excited to add Trey to our 10U boys coaching team.  Prior to coaching, Trey played water polo at Riverside Poly High School, winning two CIF Championship titles and earning an All-American title.  Trey brings energy, enthusiasm and discipline to the pool deck and is helping shape our youngest athletes into strong teammates and competitors.
Outside of the pool, Trey and his family enjoy all the great beach activities, golf and local friendships that San Clemente has to offer.

Goalie Coach - Scott Bozanic

Scott is a longtime dedicated goalie coach for both San Clemente Water Polo and San Clemente High School, where he has specialized in developing goalkeepers for more than 25 years. Widely respected for his technical expertise, Scott has helped shape generations of goalkeepers, many of whom have gone on to successful collegiate careers.

Prior to coaching, Scott played water polo at Marina High School in Huntington Beach before competing at UC Berkeley, where his teams earned NCAA Tournament appearances during his junior and senior seasons. He also represented Team USA at the Maccabiah Games, earning a Silver Medal. Among the goalkeepers he has helped develop is Sophia Noble, UC Davis' all-time career saves leader and current San Diego State University Head Coach.

While his free time is spent body surfing 204s and North Beach, Coach Bozanic has also reached the summit of Mt. Whitney 25 times and completed the entire 233-mile John Muir Trail in just three weeks.

Swim Conditioning Coach - Alejandro Siqueiros

Alejandro Siqueiros serves as Swim Conditioning Coach for San Clemente Water Polo, working with athletes across all age groups to develop the speed, endurance, efficiency, and technique that are essential to success in water polo.

A former member of the Mexican National Swimming Team, Alejandro represented Mexico at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the 2003 Pan American Games, the 2001 FINA World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, and the 2001 and 2005 World University Games. He brings firsthand experience competing at the highest levels of international sport and a strong technical understanding of efficient swimming mechanics and conditioning.

Before focusing on swimming, Alejandro represented his home state in Mexico in Junior National Water Polo Championships through age 14 and later played water polo for two seasons at the University of Arizona.

Alejandro works closely with the coaching staff to help athletes build the swimming foundation needed for long-term success in water polo. His instruction emphasizes efficient technique, endurance, and disciplined training to support athlete development at every level of the San Clemente Water Polo pathway.

Weight Coach - Kelly Abney

Kelly Abney is the owner of Abney Athletics, where she specializes in helping athletes build strength, power, mobility, and resilience through individualized performance training.

As San Clemente Water Polo's Strength & Conditioning Coach, Kelly works closely with athletes to develop the physical foundation needed to excel in one of the world's most demanding sports.

Kelly's training emphasizes proper movement mechanics, injury prevention, athletic performance, and long-term athletic development. She collaborates with the coaching staff to complement each athlete's work in the pool, helping them improve explosiveness, durability, confidence, and overall athleticism.

Passionate about developing complete athletes, Kelly is committed to helping San Clemente Water Polo players build the strength, discipline, and work ethic that prepare them for success in water polo, high school athletics, college, and beyond.
