Fall Splashball registration open.  Spots fill quickly, register now!

Splashball is a great way for children ages 6-9 to try water polo in a fun, safe and recreational environment.  Players will learn basic skills including swim kick, “eggbeater” kick, how to dribble, pass, catch, shoot, and play in a team environment.

To be eligible, participants must:

  • Be between the ages of 6-9 for the duration of the session
  • Be comfortable separating from parents and participating on their own in the water
  • Be able to get in and out of the pool and swim one length of the pool independently
  • Be able to cooperate with coach direction and group instruction

If your child meets these requirements, please register below.  Splashball athletes will be groomed to grow into 10U athletes and coaches will recommend and help transition to 10U teams when athletes are ready.

If you have an 8-9 yr old who is already strong swimmer and looking for more, consider one of our 10U Teams now.   Email sanclementewaterpoloclub@gmail.com if you want to discuss the best place to start.

To register :

Step One:  Register with USA Water Polo Membership to get insured.

Register with USA Water Polo, and select a "Splashball" membership with San Clemente Water Polo (CA-35384). This is mandatory for insurance and is good for 1 year.  Your member number is required for SCWP registration in Step #2.

Step Two:  Register with SCWP to get on the roster.

  • Register with San Clemente Water Polo here to sign up for Fall Splashball.
  • Fees factor for days off for holidays, pool maintenance, pool conflicts and weather.
  • Practice is always subject to change.  Check TeamSnap before coming to every practice.  In the case of pool closure or other cancellation, we will do our best to reschedule, but it is not guaranteed. SCWP does not prorate fees for missed practices.
  • For convenience, there is one registration for both Splashball sessions to secure a continued spot for the season.  The second session will automatically be billed to the same payment method on 10/9/24.  If you do not wish to continue in Session 2, you must withdraw by 10/1/24 by emailing sanclementewaterpoloclub@gmail.com.  After 10/1, the session 1 fee is non-cancelable as a spot has been held for your athlete.  Other than this cancellation window, all fees are non-refundable, non-cancelable and non-transferrable.

SCWP does NOT allow Drop-ins or free trials before registering.

  • All minors must be in our system and insured before they can get in the pool.  No exceptions.
  • Please respect our coaches and participants by registering before showing up to prevent distraction and delays on the pool deck.

Step Three:  Download the free TeamSnap app.

Team Snap is mandatory for club communications and is the only source for updated schedule information and team chat messages.  It can be accessed via mobile phone or laptop, and will alert you when you’ve been added to the roster.  Please make sure "notices" are turned "on" to receive Coach messages and schedule updates on time.

Family members who want access to roster information must be added to the athlete's profile. This can be done at registration, or via the athlete’s roster profile on the app.

Step Four:  Come to practice and have fun.

Wear a sport swimsuit (no board shorts or bikinis). Bring a towel and goggles. Swim caps are optional but recommended for kids with long hair.

  • We ask all parents to help maintain a safe and focused practice environment for all our athletes. Parents are responsible for on site supervision before and after practice.  Do not drop your child off before confirming they are checked in with the coach.
  • Parents may stay to observe practice quietly.  If you stay to observe, please stay off to the side and do not approach the coach or participants during practice.  Please do not create background noise or distraction that coaches must yell over.  All conversations, phone calls and gatherings must be taken outside of the practice area.  Minors/siblings must stay with a parent at all times and may not run around the pool deck or play in the showers.  These are distraction that interfere with practice and create safety risks.
  • Anyone that disrupts practice will be asked to leave the pool deck.
