24/25 Season Calendar
San Clemente Water Polo is a year-round club with breaks around the holidays and at the end of summer.
Our 2024-25 season for 10U-14U runs from Labor Day – Junior Olympics in July, with practice schedules that vary by season around the High School program. The 16/18U club program dovetails with the high school program with small breaks in between.

It is customary for game time to be unknown until 24 - 48 hours prior to the game. The expectation is that your athlete is available all day if they commit to participation.
We schedule regular team and club-wide community-building events.
We place a high value on the unique community we have at our club. Many of our coaches and families are San Clemente Water Polo alumni. We love this sport and the special community we’ve built around it.
To build camaraderie, character and team-bonding, we schedule enrichment events including club BBQs, surf meet-ups, beach clean-ups, and other volunteer events. Teams also have meet-ups from beach workouts, to house parties, to pumpkin carving to adopting a family for the holiday and delivering gifts to families in need. We recognize that these are the memories athletes may cherish above and beyond the medals they win.
Days off
We follow the Capistrano Unified School Calendar and Federal Holidays. As a general rule, if Capo Unified does not have school, we don’t have practice. These are ideal times to plan a family trip:
- Labor Day weekend
- Thanksgiving week
- December break
- MLK weekend
- Presidents' weekend
- Spring break
- Memorial Day weekend
- August (after JOs in late July) through the first day of school
For San Clemente High School – Practice may be canceled or rescheduled if times conflict with a High School event at the pool. We encourage club members to attend High School Water Polo games to learn by watching athletes play at a higher level.
Fees factor for these breaks along with other days off or cancellations for pool maintenance, weather/water temperature or breaks/coach recommended days off. Refunds are not given for cancelled practices and practice times and locations are subject to change.
Summer Vacation - THE BEST TIME to take a VACATION in summer is AUGUST! The worst time to take a vacation is July. July is a critical training month for athletes competing in the Junior Olympics. There is a 5 week break after Junior Olympics. It is best to plan your summer vacation at that time. If you hope to compete in the Junior Olympics, then your athlete MUST also compete in the JO Qualifier event in JUNE. This is a USA Water Polo requirement.
