We welcome athletes from San Clemente and neighboring communities including San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, Capistrano Beach, and surrounding South Orange County areas.

Not Sure If Water Polo Is the Right Fit?

Eligible athletes must be able to:

  • Swim freestyle with ease

  • Tread water (egg beater)

  • Be confident practicing in the deep

  • Keep pace with group instruction

If you think your child can meet these criteria, email sanclementewaterpoloclub@gmail.com to let us know you are interested.

Once registered, first-time athletes can practice “risk-free” for one week. If it is not a good fit for any reason and you do not continue on a team, we will refund you in full.

To Register for an Age-Group Team

Step One: Register for a Free Trial Membership at USA Water Polo

One week before you plan to attend, you must register for a “Free Trial” membership with USA Water Polo. This is mandatory for insurance.

Select “San Clemente Water Polo (CA-35384)” as your practice location. Your USAWP member number is required to complete SCWP registration in Step Two.

Register or renew your USA Water Polo membership here:

Step Two: Register with San Clemente Water Polo Club

Spring session begins on 2/16.

Register here to get on the Spring roster:
https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/514376/signups

There are NO DROP-INS or trials before registering. All minors must be insured and in our system before getting in the pool.

Practice fees are due with registration.

First-time athletes to our club are eligible for a one-week money-back guarantee. Your athlete must register and pay first. After one full week of practice, if it is not a good fit and you choose not to continue, you may request a full refund.

  • Refunds are only available after one week of practice for first-time athletes to our club

  • Otherwise, all fees are non-refundable and non-cancelable

  • New athletes to water polo will start on a White or Black team and typically practice for a few months before they are ready for competition

Athletes will be assigned to an age-group based on gender and birthdate on the registration form.

You can review your child’s age-group band here:

Scheduling & Calendar Alignment

General schedules can be found on Team Pages when available.

Practice schedules and locations are subject to CHANGE with the seasonal differences across the facilities we rent from. TeamSnap is the only source of up-to-date schedule information. Check it before every practice.

We are aligned with the CAPO Unified school calendar. As a rule, if CAPO doesn't have school then we don't have practice.

Billing & Program Structure

SCWP is an annual program with annual resources. For financial convenience:

  • 10U–14U teams are billed in four installments

  • 16/18U teams are billed in three installments

We do not prorate fees for seasonal differences or missed practices. It is assumed that all athletes will miss practices over the course of the year for various reasons including vacation, illness, injury, other sports, camps/events, etc.

All fees are non-refundable and non-cancelable for any reason including injury. Should you want fee protection, insurance can be purchased during registration.

Quarterly registration installment fees are for practice only.

  • Uniforms, games, and tournaments are not included and incur separate charges

  • Fees assume days off for holidays, pool maintenance, events/conflicts, weather, and rest/breaks

Registration does not guarantee an athlete a spot on a specific team or with a specific coach. Coaches assign athletes to rosters based on what they determine is the best fit of the teams at the time. On occasion, a coach may move an athlete to a different team for a better fit.

Step Three: Download the Free TeamSnap App

TeamSnap is mandatory for all club members and is how you will access schedules, invoices, and communications — from the club, coach, and teammates.

Download the free TeamSnap mobile app here:
https://www.teamsnap.com/mobile

Once you register, you will receive a notice to join the team. You must accept the invitation to access team information.

Family members who want access to roster information must be added to the athlete’s profile during registration or within the app. Turn notifications ON to receive coach requests, invoices, and schedule changes on time.

Step Four: Review Club Policies & Codes of Conduct

All athletes and parents are expected to review and follow SCWP and USA Water Polo codes of conduct at all times.

Please review our Club Policies here:
https://sanclementewaterpolo.teamsnapsites.com/about-us/club-policies/

Athletes are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward coaches, teammates, officials, and facility staff at all times.

Parents are responsible for on-deck supervision before and after practice.

Athletes who disrupt any practice in session or create safety concerns may be sent home.

Step Five: Come for a Week; Then Confirm Continuation

Before each practice, check TeamSnap to confirm the schedule for the day.

Athletes should:

  • Wear a sport swimsuit

  • Bring a towel

  • Bring goggles

  • Wear a swim cap if they have long hair

During the first week, parents may stay and observe practice quietly.

Sound carries strongly in aquatic environments and athletes wear caps over their ears making it difficult to hear. Please avoid background noise and distractions that coaches must yell over. All conversations and phone calls must be taken outside of the practice area.

Minors and siblings must remain with a parent at all times.  There is no running or playing on deck.

After one full week of practice:

  • If you and the coach agree it is a good fit, log into USA Water Polo and upgrade to a “Silver” membership to remain insured and eligible to continue.

  • If you choose not to continue, email sanclementewaterpoloclub@gmail.com to request your refund. Refunds are available only after one week for first-time athletes.
